There are many tarot decks out there. Usually they have 78 cards. You need to work with the deck that speaks to you. Traditionally, tarot cards are supposed to be gifted to you rather than bought but you don't have to stick to this rule. I have bought many decks myself. It is also good to wrap them in silk. A good deck to start with is the Rider Waite - the pictures are fairly self-explanatory and this is a standard traditional deck fairly easy to read. I have read the Queen of Wands card to a client on the phone and she literally was sitting next to a vase of sunflowers and had two black cats (both of which were depicted on the card!).
The Rider Waite cards come in various forms I prefer the Universal or Radiant Waite versions which are more colourful. Other decks include Marseille, Mythic, Thoth (Aleister Crowley's deck), Spell, Morgan Greer and lots more modern decks. I've even seen Sex Club Tarot and Lockdown Tarot complete with a Jacob Rees Mogg tarot card! What has the world come to, I wonder?! The message is use the deck that speaks to you but you can use more than one deck of course! Happy reading! :)
